United Way of Central Georgia is proud to announce that Daniel Charles, the program supervisor for Parents as Teachers, has been named the Georgia Home Visiting Supervisor of the Year. Daniel was selected from nearly 40 home visiting programs in the state. Daniel supervises our Parent Educators who provide home visits and family connection meetings to families in our local communities using an evidence-based model for parent education. The program provides parents with resources and knowledge to help their children succeed at school and in life.

Daniel is an awesome leader. He serves as a role model for others and is committed to helping make a difference in the community," said Dr. Sherri Flagg, UWCG Read United Program Manager.

UWCG President & CEO George McCanless described Daniel as a bolt of electricity with an intense stream of compassion for others. " Throughout the past several years, Daniel’s leadership has been pivotal to our program’s success," McCanless said.

In order to improve the health and well-being of children and parents, Evidence-Based Home Visiting (EBHV) programs, like Parents as Teachers, are an effective early intervention strategy. UWCG's existing birth through eight programming is known for enhancing test scores, improving school readiness, and providing parents information about their role in helping their children develop during the critical early years.
