The Houston County School District has been named one of the Top 15 Employers in the state of Georgia for 2022 by Forbes. Ranked in 7^th place among Georgia-based businesses and 14^th overall, the Houston County School District is the highest-ranking educational organization in the state. Additionally, it is the top-ranked employer based in Middle Georgia.

The Houston County School District educates approximately 30,000 students and has close to 5,200 total full-time and part-time employees.

The Forbes report was based on responses to anonymous online surveys conducted in partnership with Statista, a market research company. According to Forbes, respondents were asked to rate their employers on a variety of criteria, including safety of work environment, competitive of compensation, opportunities for advancement and openness to telecommuting. Employees were also asked how likely they would be to recommend their company to others. The final list ranks the 1,382 employers that received the greatest number of recommendations in each of the 50 states, as well as the District of Columbia.
