Crisis Line & Safe House of Central Georgia and Reflections Psychotherapy in Gray will host the 10thAnnual 5K Phoenix Rising 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run on October 22, 2022. This annual fundraiser benefits sexual assault survivors in our community on their journey from victim to survivor.
“Sexual assault affects all areas of a victim’s life, from physical to psychological to social,” said Anneliese Vanderheyden, Sexual Assault Advocacy Coordinator at the Macon Sexual Assault Center. “This type of trauma requires medical attention, legal assistance, counseling, and other services during the victim’s life after the assault. This fundraiser helps Crisis Line & Safe House continue to provide all of these services free-of-charge to victims and their families.”
The Phoenix Rising 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run was initiated in 2012 by Alicia Gregory, LMFT, of Reflections Psychotherapy. All money raised has been donated to Crisis Line & Safe House of Central Georgia in support of sexual assault survivors and their families. After two years of having the race in a virtual format due to Covid-19, we are excited to return to an in-person run. In addition to the race, there will be pre-race festivities including Just Tap’d and Pinky’s Shaved Ice food trucks, music from DJ T-Luv, face painting, a pre-race stretch with Homegrown Yoga, the Clothesline Project display, and more.
Pre-race festivities are free and begin at 3pm at 183 West Clinton Street in Gray, GA, with the race starting at 5pm. Awards will be given after the race, including trophies, pins, and donated items. Registration for the race is $25, and can be found online at cl-sh.org. We also have a registration option for our supporters who can’t make it in person – you can sign up for the virtual run!
