The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Georgia welcomes alumni Roderick Cox. An alumnus of the Carl D. Thomas Unit, Cox has reached international notoriety as a prodigious conductor. He returns to Macon for a screening of the documentary in which he is the subject, Conducting Life, at the Macon Film Festival this weekend.

As part of his return to Macon, Cox plans to visit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Georgia to connect with today's Club Kids. Monday, August 22 at 4:30, Cox will visit the King-Danforth Unit. Press is invited to attend.

“We are so excited to bring an alumnus back into our midst to celebrate his accomplishments,” says DeMarcus Beckham, Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Georgia Special Events Coordinator and Macon Film Festival Board Member. “We know he will be an inspiration to our youth of today. For someone who has come out of Macon and is now a world-renown figure, it shows the kids that they can make it anywhere. Roderick is just one example of how community-based organizations invest in our youth and how that investment can have an impact on the world. I am excited that Macon has a chance to hear his story. Great futures start at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Georgia. Let’s ensure that every child has a great story.”

Conducting Life will screen Sunday, August 21st at 7:00 PM at the Grand Opera House.
