Crews to Remove Former Greyhound Bus Station

Staff Report

Wednesday, June 15th, 2022

On Wednesday, June 15 at 9:00 a.m., our Public Works Department will begin to demolish the former Greyhound Bus Station (71 Spring Street). The demolition will be live streamed on our Facebook page www.maconbibb.us/MaconBibbCounty.

“The former bus station quickly became blighted once it was no longer used,” says Mayor Lester Miller. “Removing this uninhabitable building from our community is just another step forward in our fight against blight and improving our area.”

The Urban Development Authority (UDA) purchased the building earlier this year.

“This action is a start towards beautifying and developing key gateways into downtown and making the area around Spring Street a safer pedestrian area. Both are key components of the Macon Action Plan,” says Urban Development Authority (UDA) Executive Director Alex Morrison.

To park for the demolition Wednesday morning, please enter through Riverside Drive entrance.
