Ashton Russell, a junior at Perry High School, has been named Georgia’s Air Force JROTC Cadet of the Year and the Air Force Association Award winner. The Cadet of the Year is awarded to a third year AFJROTC cadet who demonstrates outstanding leadership, serves their community and school, and displays outstanding fitness. She serves as the Perry High AFJROTC Cadet Corps Commander and has recently been promoted to the rank of Cadet Colonel.
C/Col Russell has contributed over 130 hours to her community and school throughout the 2021-2022 academic year. She has participated in over 200 hours of leadership development activities and she earned Silver award status for her outstanding fitness. Silver award status is achieved by only the top 5% of cadets in the nation.
C/Col Russell will now compete for the Region level Cadet of the Year.
