The Bibb County School District is excited to announce the addition of girls flag football at high schools for the 2022-2023 school year. The girls flag football program will be funded thanks to generous donations by the Atlanta Falcons and the NFL by way of the Bibb County Education Foundation.

“I am thrilled at the opportunity to have girls flag football as a part of the Bibb County School District,” said District Director of Athletics Kevin Grooms. “This is a tremendous opportunity for our female student-athletes to compete in another competitive sport. Thank you to the Atlanta Falcons and the National Football Association for partnering with Bibb County School District to promote girls flag football.” In preparation for girls flag football, the Atlanta Falcons hosted a girls flag football clinic and coaches seminar for those in the area who are interested in participating in girls flag football next season. More than 350 student athletes and coaches attended the clinic on April 23 at Southwest High School.

“We are thrilled to support Bibb County School District in bringing high school girls flag football to all of its high schools,” said Amanda Dinkel, Atlanta Falcons Director of Community Relations. “Our organization has seen firsthand the growth of girls flag football throughout the state and enthusiasm for females in this sport. We are excited to be able to bring this opportunity to girls throughout the district’s community.” Donations from the Atlanta Falcons and NFL will be provided through the Bibb County Education Foundation. Established in 2021, the Bibb County Education Foundation is a nonprofit organization supported by donors and partners committed to enhancing educational opportunities for students and staff within the Bibb County School District.

The Foundation is governed by a volunteer board of directors composed of community leaders, educators, and school board members. The board is responsible for the direction and activities of the Foundation.
