Wednesday, April 6th, 2022
Recently, Vineville Academy of the Arts and Miller Fine Arts Magnet Middle School were named Leader in Me Lighthouse Schools. This is a high honor among schools that have implemented Leader in Me practices, and Miller becomes the first middle school in the state of Georgia to achieve this status.
“We are so proud of the leadership and scholarship displayed by our students, staff, and stakeholders in earning Leader in Me Lighthouse Status,” said Miller Principal Dee Thomas.
“As the first middle school in the state of Georgia to receive such an honor, we look forward to continuing a strong leadership presence in our community.” Lighthouse certification involves analysis of evidence provided by the school, as well as a site visit from the Leader in Me team. The District now has six schools that have achieved Lighthouse status, also including Bernd, Burdell-Hunt, Sonny Carter and Springdale elementary schools.
“The Leader in Me program has impacted practically everything we do at Vineville Academy of the Arts from cultivating a strong building culture, to the way we set school-wide goals, plan school events, set expectations for our student leadership in the classroom, and to the lifelong skills being developed for our future leaders,” said Vineville Academy Principal Kristy Graham. “We believe leadership and fine arts combines dreams, academics and success with the skills and self-confidence students need to succeed in school and beyond."
