Warner Robins Sees Hike in January Unemployment Rate

Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler said Thursday that Warner Robins recorded an unemployment rate of 3.2 percent, up four-tenths of a percent over the month. A year ago, the rate was 4.7 percent. Despite this, the labor force saw a rise in numbers for the month of January.
"Even though we continue to see Georgia's workforce be successfully employed in record-breaking numbers, there is still much more work to do as we continue to see hundreds of thousands of jobs needed to be filled," said Commissioner Mark Butler.
The labor force increased in Warner Robins by 392 and ended the month with 88,266. That number is up 209 when compared to January of 2021.
Warner Robins finished the month 85,450 employed residents. That number decreased by 4 over the month and is up by 1,518 when compared to the same time a year ago.
Warner Robins ended January with 78,100 jobs. That number decreased by 800 from December to January and is up by 2,100 when compared to this time last year.
The number of unemployment claims went up by 44 percent in Warner Robins in January. When compared to last January, claims were down by about 82 percent.
