Robins TMO: Getting Items in the Right Hands at the Right Time

Moving to and fro around the globe is a big part of Air Force life. And working to make the permanent change of station a smooth process for Airmen leaving or arriving at Robins Air Force Base, Georgia is the Traffic Management Office of the 78th Logistics Readiness Squadron.

TMO helps between two and three hundred customers a month.
“LRS is probably the most diverse squadrons in all of the Air Force,” said Master Sgt. Suleiman Meho, 78th TMO Personal Property Section superintendent. “Specifically we handle household goods, passenger travel for the service member and family pcsing as well as temporary deployments.
“It’s more fun than hectic for us,” Meho continued. “Yes, you get some customers who are a little stressed out because so many things are going on, but we try to alleviate the worry.”
TMO is responsible for making sure personal items are picked up and transported in a timely manner to the receiving base.
Staff Sgt. Brandon Morris, noncommissioned officer in charge of personal property section said paying attention to detail is an important part of the job.
“My job is to meet customer expectations,” he said. “Are we getting everything done in a time frame that suites them.
“When the moving process is going on we will send a member of our team out to make sure the carrier is doing what they should be doing – is the house being packed up in nice order and not left dirty or disorganized,” he continued.
Morris said his favorite part of the job is interacting with customers.
“I’m very social. I like talking with people from different walks of life and learning about the jobs they have,” said Morris. “Even though I am in the Air Force, I don’t know all of the positions and missions so hearing about what others do is enlightening.”
There are instances when the TMO will ship belongings to other locations instead of installations.
“When military member pass away we will move their household goods to their home of record or to where their surviving family requests,” said Morris. “It feels good in times like that we can aid those families in getting their loved one’s possessions.”
TMO can also be of assistance for Airmen who are separating or retiring.
Whether your next move is stateside or abroad, Meho encourages Airmen to be prompt in reaching out to the TMO.
“Once orders are given schedule an appointment with the office to get the process started,” said Meho.
“I think the service we provide is top notched. If we can get them and their items to the next we will have done our job.”
