Macon Area Habitat for Humanity Celebrates Women Build 2022
Wednesday, March 2nd, 2022
Macon Area Habitat for Humanity (MAHFH) has hosted a Women Build program in Macon for over a decade. In 2021, the event was postponed due to the COVID pandemic, but it is back in March where it belongs. The annual Women Build event, presented by Cox Communications, helps Habitat achieve a vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to call home. MAHFH invites women across Middle Georgia to roll up their sleeves and join them on the construction site during their 15th annual Women Build event. Teams of women come together to sponsor and build a home for a Habitat family.
“Women Build is a great opportunity for team building. We are so grateful for our presenting sponsor Cox Communications and all of the teams that take time to join us on the jobsite each year,” said Ivey Hall, Executive Director of Macon Area Habitat for Humanity. “This year we are also honored to be a part of Sheridan Construction’s 75th Anniversary celebration as they host our Women Build kick-off event.”
The Women Build kick-off event, hosted by Sheridan Construction in honor of their 75th anniversary, will be held at Society Garden on Thursday, March 3rd; 5:30pm-7:30pm. It will feature good food, great company, and live entertainment by Taylor Ortiz. All are welcome! Tickets can be purchased upon arrival or at www.maconhabitat.org/womenbuild. Women Build volunteers are welcome for free. Additional guest tickets are $15. Tickets will include food and a drink voucher.
This year, our Women Build teams, scheduled for build days March 10-29, will work in Lynmore Estates with a focus on completing the construction of 578 Carmen Place. The scope of work for this 3-week event will include painting, landscaping, and putting the finishing touches on the home. A homeowner has already been identified for this home and, with the help of our Women Build volunteers, will be ready to close on their new home this spring.
