Rutland High School Hosting ‘Amazing Shake’ Career Event

Wednesday, February 16th, 2022

Rutland High School will host its first ever “Amazing Shake” event, with Round 1 taking place on Thursday, February 17, from 8:30 to 11 a.m. This event, which is part of the District’s efforts to make sure students are “3E Ready” – prepared to be employed, enrolled or enlisted after high school – will take place in the school’s cafeteria, located at 6250 Skipper Road.

As part of the event, each student will go through an obstacle course to interact with local business professionals for two to three minutes. These students will be scored based on factors like eye contact, confidence and other “soft skills,” and their scores from these interactions will be used to narrow the field to 25 students for Round 2, which begins at noon.

The second round of the event will have students transported to a series of off-campus businesses, where they will interact with other community partners in a business setting until the field is narrowed to three students. Those three finalists will have dinner with a final business partner, who will name a winner. The goal of this event is to make sure Bibb County students are college or career ready. Safety protocols related to COVID-19 will be in place.
