Westfield senior Conner Shelton has been named the 2022 PAGE STAR Student for Houston County. Melissa Spalding, chair of the Robins Regional Education Foundation, announced the honor. Shelton selected Robin Leonard, an English teacher at The Westfield School, as his STAR teacher. Shelton, the son of Sheldon and Lydia Shelton, earned recognition for academic achievement and performance on the SAT. Shelton and Mrs. Leonard will represent Houston County at the Region STAR banquet in March.

In addition to the system winner, individual school winners were also announced for all participating Houston County high schools during a program hosted by the Robins Regional Chamber and Perry Area Chamber of Commerce on February 3rd at the Houston County Board of Education Auditorium in Perry. To be named a school winner, high school seniors must have the highest score on a single test date on the SAT. Students must also be in the top 10 percent or top 10 students of their class based on grade point average. Each STAR student selects a STAR teacher who has been the most influential in his or her academic success.

Each STAR Student receives a $100 scholarship from the Robins Regional Education Foundation and the Perry Area Chamber of Commerce. In addition, the System STAR Student and Teacher each received an additional scholarship award.
