Macon Volunteer Clinic Hosts Free Spay/Neuter and Health Screening Clinic with Changing the Streets
Wednesday, December 1st, 2021
Macon Volunteer Clinic is pleased to again partner with Changing the Streets for a free spay/neuter and vaccination clinic combined with health screenings, on Tuesday morning, December 7, at its 376 Rogers Avenue location.
Reservations for the free spay/neuter clinic are required, and can be made by calling 478-550-4428. Capacity is limited, so early reservations are encouraged.
Changing the Streets, a Macon-based nonprofit whose slogan is ‘Healthcare for Both Ends of the Leash,’ helps participants optimize their own health and the health of their pets. Like Macon Volunteer Clinic, their focus is on underserved and uninsured individuals who might otherwise feed their pets before helping themselves.
“Macon Volunteer Clinic alleviates the working uninsured from making painful choices between medications for themselves and groceries for their families,” states Executive Director Nancy White. “Changing the Streets has a parallel mission of alleviating individuals with loving companion animals the difficult choice between spay/neuter and vital vaccinations, and their own physical health. Hosting this pop-up clinic for our patients, and our contiguous neighborhoods, is a perfect partnership that benefits our entire community.”
Macon Volunteer Clinic was established in 2003 and is powered by philanthropy and volunteer providers. Its purpose is to foster a community where all working adults, regardless of insurance or ability to pay, can lead healthy and productive lives. To be eligible for its services – at no cost – patients must reside in Macon-Bibb County, work, be between 18-64 years of age, have no health insurance, and earn at or lower than 200% of the Federal Poverty Limits.
