Macon Jaycees to Host Career Exposition

Wednesday, October 20th, 2021

Macon Jaycees is hosting a job fair “Makin’ Macon Employed Career Exposition” on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 from 3 pm to 7 pm at Fall Line Station at 567 Plum Station in downtown Macon.

“We are providing a space for employers to advertise and market their business and any open positions they have. Attendance is free and attendees can browse tables of local businesses and organizations to network as well as participate in mock interviews and a resume building workshop,” states Macon Jaycees President, Danielle Fish. Macon Jaycees has reached out to multiple businesses across multiple industries to participate in the event. The event has been advertised on social media and Macon Jaycee members have contacted local universities and colleges in hopes that students will attend the event.

Macon Jaycees is a non-profit organization focused on leadership and professional development for people ages 18-40 that uses things like volunteering, community projects, events, trainings, etc. to grow members’ leadership abilities and skills. The Macon Chapter was re-established in 2019. “As an organization, our members know many businesses are struggling with staffing. We see the ‘now hiring’ signs all over town. We wanted to provide a solution to help businesses and individuals in need of work in our community,” states the local chapter President, Danielle Fish. In fact, the Macon Jaycees originally discussed this project in response to job losses stemming from the pandemic in 2020.

Again, general attendance to the career exposition is free. To create the greatest opportunity for success in securing a position, career exposition attendees should bring a valid driver's license, social security card, or current passport, proof of education, resume, certifications and licensure if applicable to the event to provide to potential employers. If you have applied online for a position, bring a copy of your application.

For local businesses and vendors, it is not too late to sign up. You can register at this registration link: https://bit.ly/makinmaconemployed. In addition, Macon Jaycees will accept same day registrations beginning at 2 PM at Fall Line Station, space permitting. There is a $50 registration fee that goes towards event expenses and proceeds will go to Macon Jaycees. Attendees or vendors can visit Macon Jaycees Facebook page or Instagram @maconjaycees for more information.
