Macon Area Habitat for Humanity Celebrates Homeownership During Habitat Week 2021
Monday, October 4th, 2021
Macon Area Habitat for Humanity will host Habitat Week 2021 through a series of events October 4-10, 2021 . Through two separate home dedications, a ReStore sale, and the Home Court Pickleball Tournament, the Macon community is invited to celebrate the work of Macon Area Habitat for Humanity. Over the last 35 years, MAHFH has partnered with families to create access to safe, decent, and affordable housing here in Macon-Bibb County. MAHFH was recently recognized as the 2021 Best All Around Affiliate by Habitat Georgia during the Habitat Georgia Affiliate Conference. The affiliate will also celebrate Habitat for Humanity's international work with World Habitat Day on Monday, October 4.
“We invite Macon-Bibb County to join in celebrations around the world and reflect on the positive impact of homeownership on families, neighborhoods, and the entire community,” said Ivey Hall, Executive Director of Macon Area Habitat for Humanity. “Over the past 18 months, we have all been reminded of the importance of a safe and stable place to call home. Now more than ever, we need to support opportunities for those in our community and around the world, to have an affordable place to live.”
Media are encouraged to join us for interviews during the following events:
2021 Blitz Build Home Dedication on Tuesday, October 5 at 4:00pm at 548 Shi Place
Lynmore Estates Home Dedication on Thursday, October 7 at 9:00am at 564 Shi Place

The United Nations established World Habitat Day in 1985 to spotlight the need for adequate shelter worldwide. Every year Habitat for Humanity joins our partners around the world to rededicate ourselves to recognizing the fundamental right of everyone to adequate shelter. Habitat for Humanity asks everyone to join together as one global network in communicating that every one of us deserves the opportunity for a better future. A decent place to live can remove barriers to opportunity, health, and success that might have been part of a family’s life for years, and in many cases for generations.
