One of Macon’s highly anticipated annual events, ‘All That Jazz Concert & Ball,’ will be held on Saturday, Jan. 22, 2022 at the Macon City Auditorium. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m with dinner starting at 7 p.m. The concert will begin at 8 p.m.
‘All That Jazz’ is the Tubman Museum’s annual fundraiser. The elegant, black-tie event features a live concert by nationally-renowned musicians and performing artists, exceptional cuisine, and a special, Dance Party for sponsors hosted by Macon’s favorite video and dance king – AJ the DJ. The Dance Party will be held after the concert.
Now in its 40th year, the Tubman Museum is emphasizing the importance of bringing the community together. “We’re excited to bring in a legendary artist to help us celebrate 40 years of the Tubman Museum and the 25th Anniversary of ‘All That Jazz,’” says Harold Young, Executive Director of the Tubman Museum. “This event fosters a strong sense of community and an opportunity for everyone to come together to honor our heritage and our culture.”
This year, legendary artist Smokey Robinson will be the featured performer. Known as the "King of Motown," Robinson is a Grammy-Award winning singer, songwriter, record producer, and former record executive director with a career that spans over 4 decades. He is credited with 4,000 songs and 37 Top 40 hits, including "Tears of a Clown," "Tracks of My Tears" and "Love Machine." Robinson also served as vice president of Motown Records, writing, and producing hits for groups such as The Temptations ("My Girl") and Mary Wells ("My Guy"). He has received numerous awards including the Grammy Living Legend Award, NARAS Lifetime Achievement Award, Honorary Doctorate (Howard University), Kennedy Center Honors and the National Medal of Arts Award from the President of the United States. He has also been inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters’ Hall of Fame.
