Pilot International Donating School Supplies
Wednesday, August 25th, 2021
In celebration of the organization’s 100th Anniversary, Pilot International has committed to donating more than $21,000 worth of school supplies to Bibb County School District schools. This donation is the result of fundraising by Pilot’s clubs, groups and individuals, and supplies will be delivered to selected schools on Friday, August 27, at 9 a.m. The media is invited to Veterans Elementary School, located at 4901 Faubus Ave., during the donation.
“The Bibb County School District is appreciative of the act of generosity on behalf of Pilot International. Providing school supplies to our teachers is an action directly aligned to the organization’s mission of ‘supporting those who care for others,’” said Chief of Staff Dr. Tanzy Kilcrease. “We are grateful for Pilot International partnering with our teachers who have the important task of teaching our students every day.”
Soon after its founding in 1921, Pilot Club of Macon completed its first civic project by raising money to support local schools after a failed school bond proposal. The organization has since spread worldwide. This year’s project, which will provide boxes of supplies to more than 420 District teachers, was intended to connect to those roots.
