Milledgeville-Baldwin County Chamber’s Youth Leadership Baldwin Program Celebrates 20 years

Monday, August 16th, 2021

The Milledgeville-Baldwin County Chamber of Commerce is excited to be celebrating 20 years of their Youth Leadership Baldwin (YLB) program. Since its inception, nearly 300 students in Baldwin County have graduated from the program.

“I am thankful to have had the opportunity to participate in Youth Leadership Baldwin in 2009. The program introduced me to establishments, leaders, and services that remain monumental in our community, and I’m not sure if/when those connections would have happened without YLB,” said Jessica Murray, YLB Alumnae. “I believe the opportunity YLB provides to the youth of our community is an invaluable asset in building a foundation of our future leaders. I’m excited to get the “full circle” experience in being selected as a Leadership Baldwin Class of 2022 participant!”

YLB’s mission is to teach students leadership skills, increase their social and professional network and create community awareness, so they have a better understanding of the community resources, opportunities, issues and other factors influencing Baldwin County’s future.

Applications for the 2021-22 class of YLB are now being accepted. Due to the pandemic, it was not feasible to host last year’s program. Therefore, this year, we will accept applications from juniors and seniors enrolled in any of the schools in Baldwin County. The participants meet once a month for 8 months and each session covers a different topic, such as Public Safety, Healthcare, Local Government, Industry, Interviewing Skills and much more.

Interested juniors or seniors can ask their school counselors for an application, can apply on-line on the Chamber’s website, http://bit.ly/ylb2019form, or can call the Chamber at 478-453-9311. Application deadline is August 27.

Also, if you were involved with YLB in the past as a student, counselor, principal, leader, or community supporter, we want to hear from you! Please contact us at the Chamber office to tell us how YLB impacted you, where you are now, and send us any photos of then and now!

The YLB program is conducted under the direction of the Milledgeville-Baldwin County Chamber and is designed for high school juniors or seniors in Baldwin County who want to develop their leadership skills, broaden their network and make an impact in their community.
