On Thursday, August 19 at 2:30 p.m., Forrest B. Johnson & Associates will be presenting $5,000 checks to Union Elementary and Elam Alexander Academy by way of their $10,000 donation through the Bibb Education Foundation. The presentation will take place in the board room at 484 Mulberry Street.

“Union Elementary services a large population of undeserved families several of which were displaced earlier this year because the housing complex they were living in was in disrepair. Located at 4831 Mamie Carter Dr., Macon, GA 31210, Union is a diverse community of K-5 scholars pursuing academic excellence and the development of character and creativity,” Terri Bryant of Forrest B. Johnson & Associates said. Elam Alexander Academy, located at 2051 Second Street, services 8 counties in the middle Georgia area. They administer the special education program and are very important educational resources in our community,” Bryant added.

The Bibb Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) corporation established to enhance educational opportunities for students and staff within the Bibb County School District. School districts have started education foundations to engage the community in the process of improving local schools by providing a wide array of programs to meet the diverse needs of the students and the community.

Led by Principal LaShun Crawford and Assistant Principal Donna Mallett, Union Elementary will use this donation by focusing on writing and reading. The donation will help fund and provide incentives for students who meet their goals or exceed grade level standards.

“The Union staff and I are appreciative of this generous donation. These funds will be used to celebrate our students and staff in meeting their personalized goals during this school year. Our students and staff are working diligently to set goals to ensure we hold ourselves accountable for increasing student learning,” Union Principal LaShun Crawford said.

“The generous donation from Forrest B. Johnson & Associates will be put to great use in supporting the therapeutic services throughout our GNETS program. The funds will help implement our various PBIS initiatives such as student rewards/celebrations, faculty recognition and appreciation, and behavior modification resources,” Elam Alexander Director Brooke A. Cole added.

“We applaud the work done by the staff and students of both schools and are thrilled this donation will enhance their learning experience,” Bryant added.
