Three More #MVP Forums Scheduled for Next Week

Friday, July 30th, 2021

District Commissioner 8 Virgil Watkins will hold three public forums next week as part of the #MaconViolencePrevention initiative. The first will happen Monday, August 2 at 5:00 p.m. at Niche Bar & Lounge (385 Second Street), with the second and third being on Tuesday and Wednesday. Commissioner Valerie Wynn is also holding a forum for District 1 on Thursday, August 5 from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. at Forest Hills United Methodist Church (1217 Forest Hill Road). The full schedule is below.

"We're developing our strategic plan for MVP and looking for people to help show us how to move forward," says Commissioner Watkins. "We need you to be part of this initiative to make it successful. I'm hoping you come out and bring your ideas on preventing crime because we can't do this without you."

The forum at Niche Bar & Lounge on Monday will focus on nightlife safety, and Commissioner Watkins is specifically inviting nightlife industry owners and promoters. The two at the recreation centers are geared toward the general public, and the computer labs and game rooms will be open for children ages five and up. Masks are strongly encouraged at all forums.

Hundreds of people have attended the first six public forums so far. The schedule of remaining forums is below, and people can attend any or all of them. To learn about upcoming events, sign up to receive updates about #MVP, and become part of the solution, visit www.maconviolenceprevention.org.
