G.L. Williams and Daughter Trucking, a woman-owned full-service trucking company, has hired Tabatha Foster as its new trucking supervisor.

Foster comes to G.L. Williams and Daughter with a bachelor’s degree in business management and a certification in supply chain management. She has more than 10 years of experience in fleet supervision and logistics for shipping, receiving and less-than-truckload freight for consumer goods and produce domestically and internationally.

“Women are just as capable for success in any industry. Working in a male-dominant business does bring challenges, and I strive harder to succeed because of it,” Foster said. “Having an owner that's also female makes it easier to face those challenges because I know she is facing them with me and understands the uniqueness within our industry.”

As trucking supervisor, Foster will monitor the transportation budget, implement business objectives and supervise employee performance. She also will ensure adherence to safety standards, delegate assignments to drivers, and manage the company’s databases.

“Tabatha has a proven track record of turning around difficult situations,” said Lisa Wilson, the president of G.L. Williams and Daughter. “She's maintained herself in corporate and male-driven businesses. We’re going to allow Tabatha to grow and make the necessary decisions that will help us to be first choice in trucking.”

The most important part of business is having qualified people in all positions, Wilson said, “but as a female business owner, it is rewarding to hire qualified women because we all have the same goals and obstacles to overcome. Then, as we succeed, hopefully the stigma of ‘woman-owned’ isn't a part of the conversation.”
