Friday, July 23rd, 2021

During today’s annual Convocation, the Bibb County School District named Northeast High School’s LaTanya Singleton Clark its 2022 Bibb County Teacher of the Year. The runner-up was Lacey Barnes from Burdell-Hunt Magnet School.

Also a 1992 graduate of Northeast High School, Clark is Northeast’s CTAE Healthcare Sciences Teacher and has been teaching in the District since 2016. She serves as the school’s CTAE Department Chair and as a Teacher Support Coach. Clark came to the District after a career in radiology and has a biology degree from Savannah State University.

“Now that I have experienced the joys of teaching and learning, I can truly say I have arrived at a place of satisfaction and am proud to serve with the District that provided me with a solid education,” she said. “I am proud to be a teacher at my alma mater.”

Clark and Barnes were joined as finalists by W.S. Hutchings College & Career Academy’s Chef Stuart Hardy, Rutland High School’s Marissa Rondina and Springdale Elementary School’s Cindy Quan Hong. These finalists were chosen from a pool of other school-level winners after an application process, and Clark was chosen as the winner based on an additional interview.
