Vineville and Napier Heights Team Up to Clean Streets

Tuesday, June 8th, 2021

On Saturday, June 4, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. the Napier Heights and Vineville Neighborhood Associations are joining together for a neighborhood cleanup. The cleanup will focus on areas near the corner of Vineville and Pio Nono Avenues.

The Vineville Neighborhood Association usually does a monthly cleanup on the first Saturday of every month, and this month wanted to work together with another neighborhood and bring people closer together.

“I think it’s important that we work together for a common purpose and see each other as neighbors with the same concerns, wanting to make a difference,” said Historic Neighborhood Association Vice President Trixy Hanson. “Strong neighborhoods will make a stronger Macon. Working together will make us stronger.”

“Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful (KMBB) is very proud of the neighborhoods stepping up to be a part of the Mayor’s Clean Streets Matter initiative,” says Executive Director of Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful Caroline Childs. “The work that they do makes an impact and a difference in our community and we’re really appreciative of it.”

Both neighborhoods are inviting the public to join in their efforts this Saturday by meeting at the corner of Vineville Avenue and Pio Nono Avenue in the park on Stanislaus Plaza by 9:00 a.m. Volunteers will be provided with bags and pickers, and they are encouraged to bring their own gloves.
