Healthcare for Both Ends of the Leash! Pop Up Healthcare Clinics

Tuesday, May 11th, 2021

Macon based Changing the Streets, working  in partnership  with Mercer University Medical Students, Middle Georgia State University Nurse Practitioner Students and Macon based Saving Animals From Euthanasia (S.A.F.E.), is hosting its first of three monthly “Healthcare for Both Ends of the Leash” pop up clinics for people and their pets together on May 20, 2021 at the Macon Area Habitat for Humanity.

Each monthly clinic will host a team of healthcare providers who will deliver healthcare to people and their pets at the same time.  Services provided will include health screenings for humans and spay/neuter surgeries and vaccinations for their pets at no cost for participants. The goal of these clinics is to help participants optimize their own health and the health of their pets and in turn, the entire community benefits.

Janet Hendrickson, President of Changing the Streets and a Nurse Practitioner said, “I have had many patients who will do things for their pets before helping themselves. Their pet is their family and the strength of their bond is evident.  By offering veterinary care side by side with their own care, it allows me, as a healthcare provider, the opportunity to connect with my patients in a much more meaningful way.”

“Healthcare for Both Ends of the Leash” pop up clinics allow people  an opportunity to learn about their own health, the health of their pets and how caring for themselves is as important as caring for their four-legged family member.
