Thursday, March 18th, 2021

The Macon-Bibb County Fire Department, Macon Bacon, and Cherry Blossom Festival will have an announcement on Wednesday, March 17 at 10:00 a.m. at Historic Luther Williams Field. The groups will be announcing a new partnership to add a new flavor to the annual Pink Pancake Breakfast and implementation of COVID-19 precautions. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the news conference is only open to media and participants. The public can watch the announcement live on Macon-Bibb County’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/maconbibbcounty.

“We wanted to continue this annual and very popular event, both because of the sense of community it gives us all and to continue our ongoing support of the American Cancer Society,” says Interim Fire Chief Shane Edwards.

“How can you have breakfast without bacon? This is a great way to make sure Middle Georgia and all the visitors to the Cherry Blossom Festival have their daily dose of bacon,” says Brandon Raphael, President of the Macon Bacon. “It’s also a great way for us to be even more involved in our community, help out our Fire Department, and support a great cause.”

The annual event is now the Makin’ Bacon & Pink Pancakes Breakfast, and it will be held March 20 and 27 from 7:00 – 10:00 a.m. in Historic Luther Williams Field. The cost is $5 for adults, $3 for children 5 and older, and free for children younger than 5. For the entry cost, people will have all you can eat pink pancakes, bacon, sausage, orange juice, coffee, and milk, and there will be music, entertainment, and activities throughout the morning. Proceeds from the event go to support the American Cancer Society.

By having the breakfast in Historic Luther Williams Field, people can be socially distanced, and the Fire Department will space people out in line. Temperatures will be checked as people enter the Field, and masks must be worn except when eating and drinking.
