Crawford County and City of Roberta Launch Comprehensive Plan

Monday, March 1st, 2021

The City of Roberta and Crawford County will officially begin development of their 2021 Joint Comprehensive Plan with a public hearing on February 23, 2021 at 3:00 pm. The hearing will be held at the Crawford County Conference Center, located at 640 Hwy 128, Roberta, GA, 31078. The Comprehensive Plan is a long-term guide for growth and development throughout the county and informs the City Council and Board of Commissioners of priorities to be addressed in the upcoming years.

The Joint Comprehensive Plan for Crawford County and the City of Roberta will take about nine months to prepare and will cover a variety of topics relevant to residents. These focus areas include housing, economic development, recreation and natural/cultural resources, transportation, public facilities, public safety and health, land use, and broadband services.

All members of the community are invited to engage in the planning process, and public participation is key to ensuring a successful planning effort. A general community interest survey is being launched to support these planning efforts. Interested individuals are encouraged to take the preliminary survey by visiting: https://tinyurl.com/RobertaCrawfordPlan21.

The State of Georgia requires each city and county to update their comprehensive plan every five years in accordance with requirements set forth by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs. Failure to do so may subject the community to loss of important state funding. The Middle Georgia Regional Commission provides planning and community development services to the City of Roberta and Crawford County and will assist in preparation of the comprehensive plan at no cost to the community.
