Staff Report

Friday, November 13th, 2020

When students began returning for face-to-face instruction in the Bibb County School District on Monday, November 9, drinking fountains had a new look. To help prevent the spread of COVID- 19, water fountains in each school have been fitted with touch-less bottle filling stations.

In partnership with this new process, Macon Water Authority has donated 24,000 reusable water bottles to be distributed to each student and staff member. These bottles will be the property of each student and will allow individuals to stay hydrated safely.

In a statement, representatives from the Macon Water Authority said, “

The Macon Water Authority

(MWA) is proud to partner with the Bibb County School District to ensure all students have safe and reliable access to America’s Best-Tasting Drinking Water. We know that proper hydration impacts school performance and the ability for students to succeed. As part of the MWA’s Healthy Schools Water Initiative, we encourage all students to stay hydrated by refilling their water bottles with America’s Best- Tasting tap water this school year. Drinking water is a healthy alternative that makes a huge difference in helping students stay focused, improve cognitive thinking and creativity, boost metabolism and energy levels, increase muscle performance, and regulate sleeping schedules. So, please be sure to fill your bottle,

ace that test, and be your best!”
