Georgia Rural Health Innovation Center Joins Nation Wide Observance of National Rural Health Day 2020
Friday, November 20th, 2020
The Georgia Rural Health Innovation Center is proud to celebrate the “Power of Rural” during National Rural Health Day 2020. National Rural Health Day falls on the third Thursday in November each year and recognizes the efforts of those serving the health needs of an estimated 57 million people across the nation.
The Georgia Rural Health Innovation Center serves 120 rural counties throughout the state. Georgia’s rural counties are home to over 2.3 million people. The Center is celebrating their commitment to positive health outcomes in Georgia’s rural counties by relaunching its website in a new user-friendly format. Navigating the new site is easier for all audiences, also giving access to the Georgia Rural Health Data Hub which serves as the resource for health information pertinent to rural Georgia. The Data Hub provides interactive reports, charts, and maps which can be searched and sorted by county or Public Health Region.
“The Data Hub allows website visitors to deep dive into Georgia’s health data at their convenience, based on their informational needs.” said Georgia Rural Health Innovation Center’s Executive Director, Tiffany Nelson.
“We believe rural communities are great places and are essential to Georgia’s prosperity,” says Nelson, “there is direct correlation between the health status of a community and its overall socioeconomic status. Our team collects and verifies data to identify and develop strategies that address health disparities in rural Georgia. Based on a community’s shared experiences and collective wisdom, we work to connect resources and drive the change to improve health outcomes.”
Join us on social media using the #PowerofRural #GRHIC and #RuralReady to honor the health professionals and volunteers who are dedicated to making your community a healthier place to live.
