Bibb County School District Graduation Rate Announced for 2020
Wednesday, November 11th, 2020
Data released today by the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) show the Bibb County School District’s high school graduation rate remained in the upper 70th percentile. Three high schools – Central, Howard and Northeast – continued to graduate more than 80 percent of their four-year cohorts in 2020. Two of those high schools – Central and Howard – along with Westside, marked increases in their graduation rates from the previous year.

“Graduation data for the Class of 2020 show that more than three-quarters of students graduated with their four- year cohort,” Superintendent Dr. Curtis Jones said. “This remains a significant improvement from 2014 when just a little more than half of students – 58.9 percent – graduated within four years with their cohort. As we move forward, we will review the data and determine any effects the pandemic may have played in individual schools’ graduation rates. While we study possible impacts of the pandemic, I want to commend teachers for their efforts last spring and this fall with moving to virtual instruction. This has been a new experience for everyone, with many of our teachers now taking on the task of teaching students virtually and in person simultaneously. I am impressed by the dedication and care for students they have shown throughout this experience. I also want to thank the community for its continued support. That support will be more important than ever this year as we work together in a concentrated effort to ensure students graduate college or career ready.”
