Coliseum Health System Celebrates Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Wednesday, October 7th, 2020
Coliseum Health System will “Think Pink” throughout the month of October as we observe Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast Cancer Awareness Month is designed to highlight the importance of breast cancer prevention and early detection, honor breast cancer survivors, and remember those whose lives ended too soon because of the disease.
Coliseum Medical Centers and Coliseum Northside Hospital are offering special hours and pricing on screening mammograms throughout the month.
“Mammograms are important because they are the best screening tools we have for early detection,” said Dr. Ashley Ray, a fellowship-trained breast surgeon with Coliseum Surgical Specialists. “The earlier we can detect breast cancer, the better the outcome will be for our patients.”
Dr. Ray says that most mammograms have normal findings and for abnormal mammograms that require follow up, often the results are non-cancerous. Dr. Ray added, “For women diagnosed with breast cancer, we are with them every step of the way to help navigate the process from start to finish.”
