Staff Report

Wednesday, September 30th, 2020

Macon-Bibb County’s Municipal Court is holding an amnesty program for individuals with past due traffic citations, are in failure to appear status, and/or have active bench warrants in order to promote lawful driving privileges, settle outstanding violations with the court, and reduce arrests.

From October 1 – 30, 2020, if a person pays their fines in full, all contempt fees will be forgiven. If the person’s offense(s) requires a mandatory court appearance, the individual will be granted a future court date to appear before a Judge and all failures to appear, warrants, and warrant fees will be cleared and/or forgiven.

To pay the original fines, people can go to Municipal Court, which is in the Courthouse at 601 Mulberry Street, Monday – Friday during the hours of 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Upon arrival to the Bibb County Courthouse, check in at the main entrance on the 2nd floor. A Court Security staff member will require that you complete the necessary screening process as it relates to CDC and DPH social distancing guidelines.

Masks must be worn when appearing in the courthouse for any reason. If you are unable to wear a mask due to health reasons, please contact the court at (478) 751-7154 or by email at [email protected] and let us know that you are unable to wear a mask due to health reasons. The Court will provide further information on options to participate in the program.

Forms of payment that will be accepted are cash, money order, cashier checks, and credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, and Discover Card, only). Personal checks will not be accepted. For more information, please contact the Macon-Bibb Municipal Court at 478-751-7154 or [email protected].
