During its annual Convocation on Thursday, the Bibb County School District named Dr. Eric Fuller of Howard Middle School its Teacher of the Year for the 2020-21 school year. Dr. Fuller was selected after an application and interview process that included winners from each of the District’s schools. Convocation was held virtually this year, but Dr. Fuller addressed his fellow educators as well as students and parents in a social media post by the District.

“To trust me to look over their children in their absence while they’re at work, trying to make a living, is a privilege, and I tell all of my students that,” Dr. Fuller said.

Dr. Fuller has taught mathematics at Howard Middle since 2004. He received his undergraduate degree from Georgia Institute of Technology, followed by a master’s degree from Mercer University. He has a specialist degree in education from Albany State University and received his doctorate in educational leadership from Liberty University. Dr. Fuller is also the coach for Howard Middle’s robotics team.

Miller Fine Arts Magnet Middle School educator Erin Kelly was named runner-up. The other finalists were Central High School’s Keywon Harvey, Heritage Elementary School’s Thomas Cote and Rutland High School’s Amanda Maddox.
