Wesleyan College is proud to introduce three new members to its board of trustees. Each received unanimous support from the current board and will begin their terms of service in October. 

A fourth-generation medical doctor, Waldo E. Floyd III, MD, specializes in surgery of the hand. Having earned is bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University and his medical degree from Emory University, Waldo completed a hand surgery fellowship with pioneer hand surgeons J. William Littler and Richard Eaton in New York City. He is certified in Orthopaedic Surgery and Surgery of the Hand by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery through 2029. Waldo has served on the board of councilors of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and as president of the Georgia Orthopaedic Society and the Georgia Society for Surgery of the Hand. He was chief of surgery at the Medical Center Navicent Health from 2004-2010 and currently serves as clinical professor of surgery (hand) at the Mercer University School of Medicine. He is a member of the American Orthopaedic Association and has authored many peer-reviewed articles and invited publications. For over twenty years, he has been a Consultant Reviewer for the Journal of Hand Surgery.

Lori Reese Patton is a 1990 graduate of Wesleyan College and a 1993 graduate of Mercer University’s School of Law. As chief recruiting officer for Womble Bond Dickinson in Durham, North Carolina, Lori collaborates with partners and senior executives to align talent strategy with the firm’s business objectives and has extensive experience in attorney professional development, leadership development, and executive coaching. She joined the firm as a practicing lawyer more than fifteen years ago and used that experience to help establish a lateral integration program that is used across Womble Bond Dickinson's transatlantic footprint. Prior to her professional staff position, Lori was an actively practicing attorney licensed in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. She is a past board member of Pat’s Place Child Advocacy Center and currently serves on UNC Lineberger Cancer Center’s board of visitors. She has served as a member of Wesleyan College Association’s board of managers including as Annual Loyalty Fund Chair. Jessica Kendrick Thomas is an associate at Booz Allen Hamilton where she works as a contractor, improving military pay functions for the United States Navy. Booz Allen Hamilton is an American management and information technology consulting firm, headquartered in McLean, Virginia, in Greater Washington, D.C., with eighty other offices around the globe. Originally from Augusta, Georgia, Jessica graduated from Wesleyan College in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in English, and later graduated from North Carolina Central University with a master’s degree in business administration. While at Wesleyan, Jessica served on the Council of Judicial Affairs, Student Government Association, Mortar Board, and participated in the Summer Leadership Institute of 2007. After moving to the Washington, D.C. area, Jessica became involved in the area’s chapter of the Wesleyan College Alumnae Association, where she strives to give back to Wesleyan in areas such as fostering an open network among alumnae and holding the door open for current and future Wesleyan students entering the workforce. She served as Wesleyan’s inspirational speaker for Fall Convocation 2019.
