Rebuilding Macon Continues Work in Kings Park Neighborhood
Wednesday, June 24th, 2020
From June 23rd through June 26th, Rebuilding Macon will partner with Hope Missions to continue repair efforts in Kings Park Sub-division.
Hope Missions has been sponsoring local and international projects since 2003. This year, Hope Missions is focusing their efforts in Macon, GA. Participants will enhance Rebuilding Macon’s volunteer efforts in this fourth consecutive Mission Macon by providing volunteers who will focus on a single neighborhood of 300+ homes, some of which are in desperate need of repair. From yard work to major construction projects - there is plenty of physical work that needs to be done. Rebuilding Macon is providing the leadership, construction materials, and community connections.
In the wake of COVID-19, Rebuilding Macon is proactive about ensuring a safe work environment for all volunteers and home owners. All repair projects will be exterior. Volunteers will be equipped with masks and gloves and work in groups fewer than ten. Additionally, volunteer restrooms will be provided to further prevent contact.
Kings Park is located in East Macon and has been reported as suffering from blight. In the summer of 2017, Macon-Bibb County began construction on a new community center within the neighborhood. Since completion, this center has served as a hub for the community and compliments their continued clean-up efforts. Rebuilding Macon is happy to support the residents on this journey by addressing home repairs for the elderly and disabled.
