Piedmont Brewery and Kitchen and Society Garden have joined forces to celebrate the Architect of Rock and Roll, Little Richard. In early June, world famous graffiti artist JEKS came to Macon to immortalize Little Richard with a two-story mural at The Garden. While the mural was coming to life, the Ingleside beer garden and the downtown brewpub collaborated on an exclusive beer, an Imperial Sour, named Rip It Up after one of our favorite Little Richard Songs!

“When collaborating on this the beer, we knew that it needed to be over the top,” said Piedmont Brewmaster Brian Whitley. “Fruited sour beers are extremely popular so we crafted a big 7% sour beer that is heavily fruited with blueberries, boysenberries and red currants.” These fruits produce a beer that is deep purple in color with reddish-purple head with flavors of blueberry cobbler and berry jams. Double vanilla and milk sugar round out the profile. Super fruity with a nice tart finish. “Good golly, this beer is the perfect tribute to Macon’s own flamboyant entertainer….Little Richard” said Society Garden owner Brad Evans.

On Saturday, June 27th at 7:00 PM at Society Garden, the official unveiling of the new Little Richard mural will take place, the Rip It Up Imperial Fruited Sour collaboration beer will be tapped, and the Little Richard celebration will commence. There will be a Little Richard impersonator being outrageous and taking photos with the crowd (and he may even jump up on stage for a few songs). Reggie Trombone Love and his amazing band will be playing all night long.

A portion of the proceeds from this night will go to benefit the Friends of Little Richard Fund at the Community Foundation of Central Georgia. This fund was created to help generate revenue for a statue of Little Richard that will be placed in front of his childhood home in Pleasant Hill. Beyond this night of celebration, Piedmont Brewery & Kitchen and Society Garden will be donating 10% of the proceeds of Rip It Up to the fund. We encourage the community to donate also by following this link: https://cfcga.org/fund/friends-of-little-richard-fund/.
