Macon Arts Alliance Announces Macon Film Project Screenwriting Winner
Tuesday, June 16th, 2020
Macon Arts Alliance announces the winning script for the Macon Film Project, a creative community production in collaboration with Macon Film Festival and Film Macon. Fast Car by Winsphere Jones was selected as the winner. Faith Over Fear, by Princess Maria Sanderson and Groceries by Surojit Ojha were selected as finalists.
The Macon Film Project is a community production of a narrative short film. The project will be led and the film directed by Leandro Goddinho, a Macon Arts Alliance Mill Hill Artist in Residence, and produced in collaboration with Macon Film Festival and Film Macon. Production of the film was scheduled for this spring and summer with a premier screening at the 2020 Macon Film Festival in August. The global COVID-19 pandemic has delayed production until next year. However, Mr. Goddinho led an online workshop intensive with local filmmakers, resulting in the selection of Fast Car as the screenplay to be produced.
‘I saw this a great opportunity to learn and be a part of something close to my heart as a writer,’ said Winsphere Jones. ‘The six weeks spent with Leandro were masterful and a delight. He has done a wonderful job in his teaching in the craft of writing for film.’
‘Macon Arts Alliance is pleased that despite the current travel ban, Leandro was able to begin his residency’, said Julie Wilkerson, Executive Director of Macon Arts Alliance. ‘We look forward to hosting him in person next spring and working with Macon Film Festival, Film Macon and Middle Georgia Talent to produce this short film’.
The Mill Hill Artist in Residence is a program funded by the Community Foundation of Central Georgia and Georgia Power for the purpose of working in the Mill Hill East Macon Arts Village to revitalize that community.
