Georgia Military College Prep School Makes Changes to Graduation Events
Wednesday, June 24th, 2020
Based on the current number of COVID-19 cases in Baldwin County, Georgia Military College Prep School has adjusted graduation events this week.
GMC Prep’s Baccalaureate scheduled for Thursday, June 25, 2020 inside the GMC Activity Center has been canceled. The event will not be rescheduled.
GMC Prep’s Commencement Ceremony will still take place outdoors on Friday, June 26, 2020 at 7 p.m. on Grant Parade Field. Each graduating senior has been given a designated number of tickets for immediate family members to attend. Otherwise, this is a closed event.
The safety of everyone involved in graduation on Friday is of extreme importance. That’s why GMC Prep School is taking necessary precautions to provide a safe and healthy environment. Graduates and a limited number of faculty, staff, parents, and family members attending graduation will be screened by GMC nursing staff by responding to a set of questions and having their temperatures checked upon arrival. Anyone with a temperature of 100 degrees or above will not be permitted in the venue. Six foot social distancing will be maintained between chairs for the graduates and their family groups at all times during the event. Moreover, the ceremony will be contactless with no handshakes on the stage and graduates will pick up their own diploma from a table after walking across the stage.
For those that will not be able to attend in person on Friday, GMC Prep School will livestream the commencement ceremony on the school’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/gmcprepstory/.
