Middle Georgia State University (MGA) is presenting two online writing workshops this June with faculty members Dr. Kevin Cantwell, poet, and Andy Davidson, novelist.
MGA's Continuing Education department is hosting the workshops. "Poetry with Dr. Kevin Cantwell" and "Fiction with Andy Davidson" take place June 11-26. Registration for each workshop is $150. Class format is online with some virtual meetings (poetry) and interactive discussion boards (fiction).
Cantwell is the author of the poetry volumes "Something Black in the Green Part of Your Eye" and "One of Those Russian Novels." His workshop invites adult learners who are both novice writers of poetry and lifetime readers of poetry to learn more about the craft. Participants will write, read, and discuss their poems, as well as learn about how poems get submitted to literary journals for potential publication. Contact: [email protected].
Davidson is the author of the acclaimed horror novels "In the Valley of the Sun: A Novel" and "The Boatman's Daughter: A Novel." His workshop is an introduction to the craft of fiction writing for adult learners. The course will explore the value and practice of storytelling in a workshop format. Over five lessons, participants will write a short story, share their work with the class, and finally explore how literary and popular fictions are published today.
