Macon- Bibb Proposed FY21 Budget Presented

Staff Report From Middle Georgia CEO

Wednesday, May 20th, 2020

The Macon-Bibb County proposed budget for the 2021 Fiscal Year was presented at a Special Called Meeting of the Commission on Tuesday, May 19, at 4:30 p.m. This was a virtual meeting – as all recent Commission Meetings have been – due to precautions taken to slow the spread of COVID-19.  The proposed budget, full presentation, Mayor's comments, and FY18-20 can be found by clicking here.

"I recognize that this budget will need a lot of adjustments depending on future circumstances," said Mayor Robert Reichert referencing the unknown future impact of COVID-19 on revenue, especially sales tax. "How much and how fast the economy rebounds will obviously impact future revenues, and a mid-year adjustment by the new Commission will be expected so that hopefully we can implement the pay scale, eliminate furloughs, restore positions and CIP."

A virtual Public Hearing will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at 6:00 p.m., and the budget is scheduled to be voted upon during a Special Called Meeting of the Commission on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. Both of those will be broadcast live on the Macon-Bibb website at www.maconbibb.us or on Facebook. Anyone wishing to provide comment on the proposed budget can send them via email to [email protected] by 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2.
