The Perry Chamber of Commerce, Perry Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, and City of Perry Government Main Street Program recently launched “Perry’s Got Heart,” a campaign focused on maintaining a strong sense of community during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This week, the Perry Chamber led a window painting initiative which provided chamber members the opportunity to showcase the “Perry’s Got Heart” message on their business windows for no cost. In total, 65 businesses participated, with a waitlist currently being compiled.

Ellen Palmer, President of the Perry Chamber said, "The Chamber and our members want to show the heart behind their businesses. We want to show the love and support we have for each other and our community.  Perry was a community before and will continue to be a community during and after this pandemic. We feel our community sets us apart and what better way to show that than with Perry's Got Heart!"

Additional initiatives the Chamber has led surrounding this campaign include Perry’s Got Heart t-shirts, which are currently for sale online. Proceeds from the shirt sales will benefit an upcoming grant to support local businesses greatly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Chamber also launched a “Virtual Tip Jar,” in which service industry employees can register to receive tips from community members looking to show their support during this time. The Chamber encourages those who are able to pay it forward by contributing any amount to this cause.
