Georgia DOT Awards Four Contracts for Various Projects in West Central Georgia

The Georgia Department of Transportation has announced it awarded contracts for four projects in District 3 (West Central Georgia region). The project bids were received on Mar. 20, 2020 and the contracts awarded to the lowest qualified bidders on Apr. 3, 2020.

The projects are:

Bibb County: the project involves the resurfacing of 1.045 miles of Georgia 11 from south of Liberty Church Road from north of Georgia 247. The contract was awarded to C. W. Matthews Contracting Company, Inc. of Marietta, Georgia for $657,000. The project is expected to be completed by the start of spring, 2021.

Bibb County: the project involves 11.1 miles of pavement marking upgrades on Interstate 75 from south of Sardis Church Road to the Norfolk Southern Railroad crossing. The contract was awarded to Peek Pavement Marking, LLC of Columbus, Georgia for $3 million. The project is expected to be completed by the start of spring, 2021.

Harris and Talbot Counties: the project involves the resurfacing of 10.287 miles of Georgia 36 from Georgia 208 to Georgia 41. The contract was awarded to Robinson Paving Company of Columbus, Georgia for $2.85 million. The project should be completed by the start of spring, 2021.

Crawford, Muscogee, Peach, Talbot and Taylor Counties: the project involves signage and pavement markings upgrades at various railroad crossings. The contract was awarded to L. C. Whitford Company, Inc. of Alpharetta, Georgia for $254,000. The project is expected to be complete by the end of spring, 2021.

The projects were four of 15 awarded statewide on Apr. 3, with the contracted amount for all 15 projects totaling $109,380,895.

The March awards bring the total construction contracts for Fiscal Year 2020 to $502 million. Fiscal Year 2020 began July 1, 2019.
