Georgia DOT Awards Three Contracts for Resurfacing, Pavement Marking Projects in West Central Georgia

The Georgia Department of Transportation has announced it awarded contracts for five projects in District 3 (West Central Georgia region). The project bids were received on Feb. 21, 2020 and the contracts awarded to the lowest qualified bidders on Mar. 6, 2020.

The projects are:

Houston and Peach Counties: the project involves the resurfacing of 15.736 miles of Interstate 75/Georgia 401 from south of Georgia 26 to Georgia 96. The contract was awarded to Reeves Construction Company of Macon, Georgia for $22.4 million. The project is expected to be completed by the start of spring, 2021.

Meriwether County: the project involves the construction of a bridge and approaches on Stovall-Greenville Road/CR 416 over Flat Shoal Creek. The contract was awarded to Tidwell Construction Company of Douglasville, Georgia for $1.15 million. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2020.

Muscogee County: the project involves 8.050 miles of pavement marking upgrades on Interstate 85/Georgia 411 from south of Interstate 85/Georgia 411 to south of Armour Road Bridge. The contract was awarded to Peek Pavement Marking, LLC of Columbus, Georgia for $1.9 million. The project should be completed by the start of spring, 2021.

Spalding County: the project involves the construction of a bridge and approaches on Jordan Hill Road/CR 508 over Troublesome Creek Tributary. The contract was awarded to Tidwell Construction Company of Douglasville, Georgia for $1.66 million. The project is expected to be complete by the end of the year.

Twiggs County: the project involves 9.520 miles of pavement marking upgrades on Interstate 16/Georgia 404 from west of Georgia 112 to west of Georgia 96. The contract was awarded to Peek Pavement Markings, LLC for $1.45 million. The project is expected to be complete by the start of spring, 2021.

The projects were five of 22 awarded statewide on Mar. 6, with the contracted amount for all 22 projects totaling $127,696,630. 

The February awards bring the total construction contracts for Fiscal Year 2020 to $393 million. Fiscal Year 2020 began July 1, 2019.
