Local non-profit Rebuilding Macon approaches their third annual Macon’s Cookin’ Fundraiser on March 6 to support their mission of helping the elderly and disabled within the Macon-Bibb county community with minor home repairs.
The fundraiser features popular dishes from over a dozen local restaurants. It will be held at the upcoming Fall Line Brewing Company located at 567 Plum Street on March 6 at 6:00pm, tickets are available through Eventbrite. Hosted by 13WMAZ’s Frank Malloy, the night will also offer music by The Bozwellz and a silent auction to further support the mission.
“Macon’s Cookin’ is a fun way to help others in the community,” says community leader and Rebuilding Macon board member, Marshall Tally. “A night out would cost just as much for the amount of food and drinks available at this event. But this event includes fantastic live music, in addition to many food options, and the extra layer of giving back.”
The silent auction boasts items, art, experiences, and memberships from many local businesses such as 7th Street Salvage, Travis Jean Emporium, Southern Bon Vivant, VisitMacon, Historic Macon Foundation, Pure Barre Fitness, the Museum of Arts and Sciences, Back Burner, The Lodge on Lake Oconee, Theatre Macon, Sarah Tinsley Parker, Raffield Tire Master, Macon Pops, Rock Candy Tours, Kelby Haugabook, Fish and Pig, Meadows Gun Club, and more.
Restaurants and caterers see this as chance to support the community in a unique and fun way. “We love the opportunity to mix it up,” says Moonhanger Group’s Director of Company and Community Relations Katelin Yates. “Our leadership team prioritizes supporting the Macon community beyond the walls of our establishments. Rebuilding Macon is an organization that truly makes a difference in people’s lives. Whether it be volunteering with them on house projects or helping make this fundraiser possible, Moonhanger Group has seen first-hand the impact of this organization and we couldn’t be more proud to be involved.”
In addition to H&H, The Rookery, Natalia’s, and Dovetail from Moonhanger Group, other restaurant participants include Piedmont Brewery and Kitchen, Cast Iron Catering, Bonefish Grille, Edgar’s Bistro, Macon Beer Company, Parish, Fatty’s Pizza, Circa, and Miramar.
Sponsors of the event include Geico Insurance at the Silver level; Annie and Sammy Dame, Irving Consumer Products, Sheridan Construction, Capital City Bank and Fall Line Brewing Company at the Bronze Level; Patton, Albertson, and Miller, McGriff Insurance, Cherokee Brick, Graphic Resource, Moonhanger Group and Bank OZK at the Pearl Level.
Community member Katherine Walden says of the fundraiser, “Worthy of its very own collectible cook book is all you need to know about (Rebuilding) Macon’s Cookin’, the annual showcase of fabulous cuisine and handcrafted spirits! This year’s bash promises to be another memorable event, introducing brew fans to a brand new, retro venue on Plum Street!”
