Monday, January 27th, 2020

Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02), released a statement after he presented the Bronze Congressional Award Medal to Dawson Ezzell, of Byron, Georgia:

“The Congressional Award Medal is the highest Congressional honor for the youth in our nation, and I was honored to give it to Mr. Dawson Ezzell. Dawson has spent his teenage years bettering his community and himself. From his dedication to feeding the hungry at the local food bank to taking care of the shelter animals, Dawson has been giving back so much to his town all before he turned 18. He juggled his volunteer work while captaining his varsity baseball team and keeping his grades up. Now he is continuing to go above and beyond, by taking classes at both Middle Georgia State University and Georgia Military College.

“Middle Georgia is definitely better because of Dawson Ezzell’s hard work in all aspects of his life. I look forward to seeing what he will accomplish next.”

To receive the Bronze Congressional Award Medal, applicants must complete the following tasks over 7 months: 100 hours of voluntary public service, 50 hours dedicated to personal development, 50 hours dedicated to physical fitness, and one ‘expedition’ night or two ‘exploration’ days in the wilderness. Applicants may register once they are 13.5 years old and must have completed their activities by their 24th birthday.
