The Peyton Anderson Foundation Announces Latest Grant Recipients

The Peyton Anderson Foundation announces its latest round of grants, where organizations will receive $335,000 towards place-based initiatives benefiting healthcare, education, community development, and arts and culture.
“These grants help the community by improving healthcare access, increasing literacy, supporting the arts, and promoting unbiased press coverage of the State government,” said Karen Lambert, President of the Peyton Anderson Foundation. “We look forward to the impact these projects will have on Macon-Bibb’s quality of life and opportunity.”
The largest award went to United Way of Central Georgia to continue the success of the Read United program in Bibb County classrooms. The Foundation awarded $150,000 to match funds for an AARP Foundation grant and to provide additional support to Bibb County Elementary Schools.
Other recent grants include:
Angel Flight Soars, Inc: $20,000 will support the Fly a Georgia Patient (Macon) Program to facilitate geo-fencing technology for the purpose of educating potential patients and patient care coordinators about Angel Flight Soars’ free medical flight services.
Georgia Press Educational Foundation: $75,000 over the course of three years will be used to create “The Capitol Beat.” This resource will provide in-depth and unbiased coverage of our state government to the readers of more than 125 daily and weekly newspapers in Georgia.
Grand Opera House: $75,000 will be provided to support the replacement of the exterior marquee, which is no longer functional.
Macon Cemetery Preservation Corporation: $15,000 will be used for the creation of an interactive website to assist in mapping interments, fundraising, and sharing the history of Historic Linwood C This portal can be used by family members to access and submit information on their loved ones and volunteers can also sign up to participate in the preservation efforts.
The Peyton Anderson Foundation accepts grant applications twice a year on April 1st and August 1st from non-profit organizations whose funding needs fall in the areas of education, health, environment, arts and culture, and civic and economic development. Selected grant recipients are announced twice a year. The latest round of recipients brings the Peyton Anderson Foundation’s investment to over $105 million in placed-based grant funding.
