Perry Chamber October Student of the Month Announced

The October Students of the Month were awarded on Thursday, October 24 at the Perry Chamber. The recipients were Alex Reynolds (Veterans High School,) Joseph Bourque (The Westfield School,) and Sade Collier (Perry High School.) See below for student bios.

Kevin “Alex” Reynolds is an honor student and his GPA is 3.97. He has taken three AP courses and earned qualifying scores, and is taking four more AP courses in his senior year. He has been a Veterans High School honors award recipient all four years. He helps support our school operations as an office assistant, giving tours to potential students/parents and helping out with our daily customer service and
office tasks.
In addition to his strong academic goals, he has lettered in and played football for the last four years. He has also lettered in Wrestling where he won 4 th place in 2018 and was state runner up in 2019. Alex is also very active in club wrestling, being named an All American Wrestler at the Disney Nationals in 2019. Alex has not decided on a college yet, but is considering Cumberland, the US Merchant Marines Academy, the University of North Carolina at Pembroke or Lander University. He hopes to continue
wrestling in college and wants to major in Aerospace Science.

Sade Collier is a senior at Perry High School. Throughout her academic career, she has received the University of Georgia Certificate of Merit, Highest Average in AP World History, the Diversity in Action Scholarship, and was a participant in the 2019 Governor’s Honors Program for Communicative Arts. Her poetry has also won an award – in 2019, she was the Regional Winner for the Young Georgia Authors competition in Middle Georgia.
At Perry High School, Sade founded the Socio-Political Club at her school and this year will serve as the sole PHS representative to the Student Advisory Council to meet with Superintendent Richard Woods. In 2018, she served as the PHS ambassador to the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership seminar and, each summer she returns as a junior staff member. Sade is the News and a Senior Editor for yearbook staff, an officer for FBLA, and a cast and crew member for theatre. Additionally, she serves as a representative on the student council and is a member of Beta Club and National Honor Society. Outside of school, Sade has received a publication in the Huffington Post, is a staff writer for Affinity Magazine, and works as a cashier at Sonny’s BBQ.
Sade is currently applying to schools across the nation and hopes to attend New York University in the Fall of 2020 for Journalism.

Joseph Bourque is a senior at the Westfield School. A consistent, high honor student,
Joseph earned a perfect score of 5 on his AP European History exam, and he has been recognized by the College Board as an AP Scholar. Additionally, he has been recognized as a Furman University Scholar, Georgia Certificate of Merit Scholar, Wofford Scholar, and University of Rochester Fredrick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony Award winner. He was also nominated by the Westfield faculty for the Governor’s Honors Program in the area of Social Studies where he was a state semi-finalist.
In addition to his academic merits, Joseph has also been a valuable member of the varsity soccer and varsity cross country teams every year of high school, and he has served as the team captain for both. He is a graduate of the Warner Robins Youth Leadership Program, and he currently serves as treasurer on the Westfield Student Council.
