Friday, October 4th, 2019
The Georgia Department of Education recently released its recognition levels for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), and several Bibb County School District schools showed improvement. These recognition levels are based on several factors, including school training and discipline data.
For the 2018-19 school year, eight District schools were deemed Distinguished, the highest level of recognition, which was twice the number from the previous year. These schools were Rutland High School, Northeast High School, Southwest High School, Miller Fine Arts Magnet Middle School, Alexander II Magnet School, Porter Elementary, Elam Alexander Academy at Burke and Elam Alexander Academy at Southwest.
After seven schools were deemed Operational a year ago, 15 District schools reached that mark for 2018-2019. Those schools were Central High School, Appling Middle School, Ingram-Pye Elementary School, Southfield Elementary School, Bruce Elementary School, Hartley Elementary School, Brookdale Elementary School, L.H. Williams Elementary School, Lane Elementary School, Bernd Elementary School, Burdell-Hunt Magnet School, Carter Elementary School, Veterans Elementary School, Heritage Elementary School and W.S. Hutchings College and Career Academy.
Additionally, the District had nine Emerging schools and six installing schools. The District continues to focus on PBIS and its positive impacts on school climate.
