Staff Report From Middle Georgia CEO
Wednesday, September 11th, 2019
Coliseum Medical Centers will host the Coliseum Classic Cruisin’, a free car, truck, and motorcycle show, on Saturday, September 28 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on the hospital campus located at 350 Hospital Drive in Macon. Old Timers Classic Cruisers Car Club has partnered with the hospital to bring a fun, free car show to the middle Georgia community. Cars, trucks and motorcycles of all ages can enter the show for free, and the public is invited to enjoy the wide array of cars on display! Trophies will be given to the Top 40 cars and one lucky car will win the Coliseum Choice Grand Prize Trophy.
Coliseum Medical Centers is hosting the car show during the month of September in recognition of National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. During the car show, hospital staff will be on hand to educate men about the importance of regular prostate screening to prevent against prostate cancer. Eligible men will also be able to receive a free PSA blood test during the event.
Dr. Joseph Bear, a urologist at Coliseum Urology Specialists, said, “Prostate-specific antigen, or PSA, is a substance produced by the cells in the prostate, and a PSA screening measures the amount of PSA in the blood. Luckily, a high number on a PSA screening does not automatically mean that there is cancer, but it does give men a warning that further testing needs to be done.”
Everyone is invited to the Coliseum Classic Cruisin’. For more information or to register your car, truck or motorcycle, visit the Coliseum Medical Centers Facebook page or the Classes & Events section of the hospital website, www.coliseumhealthsystem.com.
