Wesleyan College is one of the 142 best colleges in the Southeast according to The Princeton Review. The education services company lists Wesleyan in the Best in the Southeast section of its "2020 Best Colleges: Region by Region" website feature that posted on August 6, 2019. In October, The Princeton Review ranked Wesleyan College as one of America’s most environmentally responsible colleges in the ninth annual edition of its "green guide."
 
The website salutes a total of 656 colleges that The Princeton Review recommends over five regions: Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, West, and International. The colleges that made the "Best in the Southeast" list are located in twelve Southeastern states.
 
"We chose Wesleyan College and the other outstanding institutions on this list primarily for their academics," said Robert Franek, The Princeton Review's editor-in-chief. He noted that the company considered data from its survey of administrators at several hundred colleges in each region, information from staff visits to schools over the years, and the opinions of college counselors and advisors whose perspectives the company solicits. "We also consider what students enrolled at the schools reported to us on our student survey about their campus experiences," Franek added.

The Princeton Review survey asks students to rate their colleges on dozens of issues and to answer questions about themselves, their fellow students, and their campus life. Comments from surveyed students are quoted in the school profiles on The Princeton Review website. Wesleyan students compliment the "academic rigor, supportive atmosphere, diverse student body, nice facilities, and excellent classroom environment." Professors and academics receive the most praise. "Professors are definitely the best part of Wesleyan. [They are] totally dedicated and engaging." With hardly a negative word against them on student surveys, these "excellent," "open-minded" professors teach "challenging" material, and although they tend to be "strict," they are also "nice" and "encourage critical thinking and looking at things from different perspectives."
 
Students also commented that Wesleyan students "are all very different from places all over the world." "The great international population leads to diverse religious, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds." They are different "in terms of political views, religious affiliation, and sexual orientation."
 
The Princeton Review school profiles include ratings from “Admissions Selectivity” to “Green.” The ratings are scores from 60 to 99 that the company tallies primarily from institutional data, although some factor in student survey data as well. Wesleyan’s Princeton Review ratings are scores of 86 for quality of life, 87 for enrollment selectivity, 83 for academics and for financial aid, and 84 for being a green college.
